We currently just started working on our Capstone Projects! My partner, Alexa, and I are trying to focus on creating a prototype for a sustainable, off-grid classroom. We want to create something that uses recycled parts for construction, and we will make it with zero net energy use by incorporating solar energy into it. Ideally, something like this can be used in impoverished or developing areas where resources and/or energy may be scare. Keep checking here for updates as we go along, I will keep updating the log here and add pictures once we have some tangible progress!
Preliminary Work Before starting research into the Capstone Project idea of a sustainable classroom, we first did some preliminary work to prepare us in our endeavors. These tasks were completed over a few months, while also working on other smaller projects in class. Thus, they were spread out and did not have many full days devoted solely to this project. Some of these preliminary activities include: creating a resume and 30 second elevator pitch, drafting emails to our mentors, and interviewing our mentors.
While the work on the Capstone Project actually began much sooner, we will list November 25th, 2018 as the first logged day of working on this project, as that is the day we created the Padlet (our brainstorming tool) and this was the first day that we had also finished all other projects in the class and could now fully invest our time solely on this project.
